Focused around the 2xGreat Grandson of Hezekiah Hoar where the family history is still formalizing and we saw the great expansion across the continental USA over the next 100 years or so. A place to document further discoveries and refinements from what has already been made available to us. This is now known to be Peter Horr's grandparents. See the Page History section below for the original focus of this page and branch.

Note: B01 page contents copied in and still being pared down to reflect the expanded focus of this page. Pardon the dust during this remodel.

Background on Research

The original work on this branch was by Norton Horr in his early 1907 work well known to the Hezekiah Hoar1 community. Joyce pushed hard to break the misnomer this early work introduced that Robert Horr III6 had died in New York and never married. Instead she, along with Donna Jaster and Roz Edson, developed a whole line below Robert Horr III6 that included his wife Lavina Hamm and many children. Including the now known Peter Horr 7 as the last offspring. Just as it was a monumental effort to show Peter Horr 7 as the son of Robert Horr III6, so has it been previously for these ladies to show that Robert Horr III6 lived on, procreated and was the son of Robert Hoar II5.

It appears Robert Horr III6 is responsible for spelling name change from Hoar to Horr around 1800; as did some of his relatives. Similar in frequency to how many changed it from Horr to __Harr_ around 1900 as well. It is not known what spurred these spelling changes other than the fact that records started becoming more written and formal at both those times.

We have never seen the used of the designation Robert III. Nor Robert II that some are aware of. This is introduced simply as a convenience to more easily identify and distinguish the three generations of Roberts.

Page History

This page had nominally been to capture the details on the search for the parents of Peter Horr, b.1819 Ohio. For those logged in to this site and with privilege, see the DNA Groupings page on Peter for the latest on how we are finalizing the answer via DNA. Peter, the now found siblings, and all the respective descendants from them are on the fringe of useful Autosomal DNA testing to prove the link of Peter's parents; where written records have not been found.

Otherwise, see Randy's personal page on Peter Horr that preceded the project here and captured his early process pf finding Peter's parents. See its Wiki history for more insight into the early history of finding his roots. Updates since that page has been edited are on the yDNA Groupings page referenced above. The page and search documented there was the impetus for Randy's portion of work that formed this overall surname project and sight.

Now, in essence, the DNA page on Peter is as much about his found parents Robert Horr III and Lavina Hamm as it is about their previously undocumented son Peter Horr. As it is reconfirming the family grouping including him. We renamed the Peter Horr pages and expanded the focus to be more about documenting this reconstructed family of Robert Horr III and Lavina Hamm that Roz, Joyce and Donna worked so hard on for the past 30 years. And in fact, to push the work further up to Peter's grandfather Robert Hoar II and Sarah Reed so as to continue the push into extreme autosomal matching and filling in the missing information from Norton Horr's seminal work on the line.
