Formed from the remnants of a few older enterprises, a newer startup focused on provided very detailed, geographic location reports. Although started (rebooted) in 2016, they have as yet to have match analysis after two years in operation. They have implemented the work of the UK research effort XXXX and are thus able to report percentages of your autosomes from various counties (shires) and similar regions within the British Isles. They are working to expand this technique with analysis in Germany and similar micro-regions. Results can be exported for match analysis at MyHeritage and GEDMatch Genesis.
LivingDNA announced in September about going back to the older microarray test technology still used by FamilyTreeDNA, MyHeritage and Ancestry. They started with the brand new technology that was developed by Illumina partnering with 23andMe. But this results in a somewhat incompatible SNP test suite compared to the older tools. Possibly the costs remained higher with the new equipment. Or the imputation of dissimilar SNP values was too great to offer cross-platform analysis. GEDMatch has been struggling for years to get this right. And MyHeritage as well although they both seem to be rolling out the capability now as of Fall 2018.
