1697 David Browne of Washington Parish, Westmoreland Co. to John HOARE of same. With consent of his wife Elizabeth and for 3000 pound tobacco, 43 acres, his wife’s share of land. Elias Webb, late of Westmoreland Co. died possessed of a tract joining upon the land of Mr. John Scott and Mr. Andrew MONROE, containing 130 acres, and formerly belonged to John Knott of the aforesaid Co., deceased and being found to escheat by an inquisition under the hands and seals of Lt. Col. Peter Ashton by virtue of this deputation from Col. Miles Carey, Escheator General, Mar 8, 1663/4, and granted to Elias Webb by an escheate patent 30 April 1664. Elias Webb at his decease left one son Elias and three daughters, Jane, Elizabeth and Sarah. His son Elias dying before his father in his minority the above tract fell successively to the three sisters as co-heirs. David Browne married with Elizabeth, one of the daughters and co-heirs. Signed by David Browne and Elizabeth Browne. Elizabeth relinquished her right of dower - 1697. 1700, 28 May; 1701, 2 Dec. John Scott of Mattox, Westmoreland County, Virginia, merchant, 28 May 1700, now bound to sea. To my two sisters and their children that I believe is in Ireland, whose maiden names are Jane and Rebecca Scott, one hundred pounds sterling, to be paid by my executor, Gustavos Scott of Bristol. To my brother James's son, named Gustavos, thirty pounds sterling, to be paid out of the money his father and mother " is due " to me. To my brother Gustavos twenty pounds sterling, out of the said money due by sister. And in case the Ship Potomack Galley that I have shipt most of my tobacco on board should miscarry and not get safe home, as God forbid, then my will is the above legacies to be paid but the half part of what I have above named, and the remainder to my wife and children &c. To my son John my plantation I now dwell on, that I bought of Capt. Thomas Mountjoy. If he dies before marriage, or before he cometh of age, the said plantation to go to my daughter Jane and her heirs. To the said Jane the tract of land, five hundred acres on the North East branch of the Potomack River in Maryland, called in the " Paton " Strabane, with remainder to John and his heirs. The plantation of mine at the head of Pope's Creek which I bought from Abraham Field to my wife Sarah ; — also the benefit of the plantation I now dwell on until my son John come of age. The rest of my estate equally between my children John, Jane and my wife; and if she be with child then such child shall have one equal share. If my children all die without heirs, remainder to my nephew Gustavos Scott, next to my brother Gustavos. When my son John attains to the age of eight or nine years he shall be sent to England to his uncle Gustavos, to be kept at school there.
My wife Sarah to be the executrix in trust and my kinsman Mr William Graham and Mr. Andrew MUNROE the executors in trust to my children until they come of age. My son John and brother Gustavos Scott of Bristol to be executors. A mourning ring to John HOARE, and to his son John, my godson, a thousand pounds of tobacco. To my kinsman William Graham ten pounds (in money) and my watch which I carry to England to be repaired. To Mr. Andrew MUNROE my silver hilted sword and belt, a case of pistols and holsters. To Mr. David Wilson a gold ring.

This was probably Rev. Andrew MUNROE, who appears among the ministers of the Established Church in 1696. Small patents of land were granted an Andrew MUNROE in Northumberland Co., Va., the first of 200 acres, June 8, 1650, in which he is named as one of the "Head Rights." Book No. 1, p. 225, Va. Land Registry. Rev. John MUNROE was a Rector in Northumberland Co. , Va. , in 1692. The tradition in Virginia is that Andrew MONROE, the ancestor of President James MONROE, was a Major in the Royal Army, and came to Virginia after its defeat. Spencer MONROE, the father of the President, and John MONROE, appear among the signers to " Westmoreland Association," formed in opposition to the Stamp Act, Feb. 27, 1766.— R. A. Brock. 16 Feb 1712 John HORE of Washington Parish made a will, son Elias HORE land in Stafford, son John HORE land where he now lived on Mattox Creek and a silver hilted sword, son James HORE land on south side of Mattox Creek which he bought off John Beard and Mary his wife, until his children come of age John and Elias are to be exrs.
26 March 1712 Elias HORE and John HORE produced in court the last will and testament of John HORE decd. It was ordered that William MUNROE, John Elliot, Joseph Weekes and Thomas Arrington (Harrison), appraise the estate and make a report to the court.
26 Nov 1712 SARAH HORE, Relict of ROBERT HORE, deced., came into Court and made Oath that ROBERT departed this life without makeing any Will soe farr as shee knows or believes and on her motion, and Capt. JOHN BUSHROD and WILLIAM ROBOTTOM's assumeing to be Securities for her just and true administration of the Decedent's Estate, Certifycate is granted her for obtaineing Letters ofAdministration in due form and shee is ordered to return a full and perfect Inventory of the Decedent's Estate to the next Court upon Oath; And it is alsoe ordered JOHN BUSHROD, FRANCIS ATTWELL, JAMES BYARD, THOMAS CHANDLER and JOHN MOON or any three ofthem being first sworn before one of her Majties Justices for this County doe some tyme before the next Court value and appraise the Estate and make report thereof to the next Court. 24 Feb 1713/14 HORE’s estate to be divided. Upon petition of Mrs Sarah HORE, relict of Mr. John HORE, decd., it is ordered Mr. Charles Tyler, Mr. Robert Lovell and Mr. William MUNROE divide the estate of John HORE into three equal parts or portions and that they do posess Sarah with one full third part thereof.(Westmoreland County, Virginia Order Book, 1712-1714, Antient Press, page 85).

The following records are from the Chancellor Family Bible 1768-1885. at the LVA Library. They were copied by Mrs. Fanny Webster, the owner of the bible, who was the daughter of Mary Ann Priest and Andrew J Carter.
Thomas Chancellor died in Westmoreland Co. VA. in 1761 and his widow in 1767. He left issue: John Chancellor, who married Jane MONROE, aunt of President MONROE.
John Chancellor, the son of Thomas Chancellor, Departed this life on the 10th day of March 1815, aged 89 years. (Note: In Prince William Co. VA.).
William Chancellor, the son of John Chancellor and Jane MONROE, his wife, Departed this life on the 7th of March 1815.
Mary Chancellor died September 26th, 1820, aged about 60 years. (Note: She was the daughter of Elias HORE and wife of Cooper Chancellor).
Cooper Chancellor departed this life Feby. 5th. 1845 in the 90th year of his age. (Note: Son of John and Jane (MONROE) Chancellor).
Mrs. Fanny N Priest departed this life May 7th, 1876. (Note: She was the daughter of Cooper and Mary (HORE) Chancellor).

Upon petition of Mrs Sarah HORE, relict of Mr. John HORE, decd., it is ordered Mr. Charles Tyler, Mr. Robert Lovell and Mr. William MUNROE divide the estate of John HORE into three equal parts or portions and that they do posess Sarah with one full third part thereof.(Westmoreland County, Virginia Order Book, 1712-1714, Antient Press, page 85).

Thomas Chancellor died in Westmoreland Co. VA. in 1761 and his widow in 1767. He left issue: John Chancellor, who married Jane MONROE, aunt of President MONROE.
John Chancellor, the son of Thomas Chancellor, Departed this life on the 10th day of March 1815, aged 89 years. (Note: In Prince William Co. VA.).
William Chancellor, the son of John Chancellor and Jane MONROE, his wife, Departed this life on the 7th of March 1815.
Mary Chancellor died September 26th, 1820, aged about 60 years. (Note: She was the daughter of Elias HORE and wife of Cooper Chancellor).
Cooper Chancellor departed this life Feby. 5th. 1845 in the 90th year of his age. (Note: Son of John and Jane (MONROE) Chancellor).
Mrs. Fanny N Priest departed this life May 7th, 1876. (Note: She was the daughter of Cooper and Mary (HORE) Chancellor).
